What we collect

When you create a Looply account, we collect your display name, an optional avatar, and a rough location (suburb/postcode) — not a full address. Your email lives with Firebase Authentication, our sign-in provider, and isn't duplicated in our own records. If you choose to add a phone number, it's used only to verify your account.

When you contribute or claim a book, we record the book, its declared condition, any photos you provide, and which shelf location was involved. When you write a review, we record the review text and rating.

How we use it

Your activity (contributions, claims, credits earned, reviews) powers the leaderboard, your activity timeline, and your public profile. You control whether your name and photo are shown publicly or replaced with an anonymized placeholder via the visibility setting in your account settings.

Councils, organisations, and shared data

If you request a demo or apply on behalf of a council or organisation, the details you submit (name, email, phone, and the organisation's details) are shared with our CRM provider, Zoho CRM, so our team can follow up with you. This is the only case where we currently share personal information with a third-party service provider.

Your choices

• Control your public visibility at any time in account settings.
• Opt out of non-essential emails (newsletters, recommendations, re-engagement) independently — core account notices always stay on.
• Contact us via the support page to ask about, correct, or request deletion of your information.

Data storage

Your data is stored with Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Storage), hosted in Australia where Firebase's infrastructure supports it. Access is restricted to what each part of the app genuinely needs — for example, only Looply staff acting as super-administrators can adjust account balances or resolve disputes.
